Our Story

Worm Creek Puzzles was founded in Preston, Idaho—a town originally called Worm Creek when it was settled in 1888. The name came from the winding waterways that curved through the countryside like worms. Another popular story claims it was first "Warm Creek," inspired by the area's geothermal activity, and the name gradually morphed into "Worm Creek" over time.  You decide!

I started Worm Creek Puzzles for two reasons. The first was simple: my young son discovered a passion for puzzles and pulled me right in with him. I had forgotten how much I loved them. They're fun—and for me, deeply relaxing (except when tackling a 1,000-piece puzzle with 400 nearly identical sky or grass pieces).

The second reason took longer to fully appreciate. As we worked on puzzles together, I noticed something special: those shared moments led to rare, precious conversations. My kids would open up naturally, without prompting, during those 30 to 60 minutes side by side. I also saw how puzzles brought young and old together with an ease that's hard to replicate in everyday life.

I realized that if puzzles had a more approachable piece count and original artwork—beyond the usual collages, food scenes, and outdated barns—more people, especially younger generations, might discover the same joy and connection.
